This weekend marked the 15th anniversary of 9/11. So many Americans lost their lives that day and we will never forget the sacrifices so many first responders made to protect our country. Some of our VONA staff in Florida chose to honor our first responders and this special anniversary by participating in the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in Orlando, Florida. Jonathan Simpson, Area Sales Manager and Cynthia Davis, Field Case Manager, at VONA Case Management, Inc., participated in the event on Saturday with their families. “At VONA, one of the components of our culture is one of gratitude and we try to give back to our communities when we can. I was proud to see some of our teammates come together to support such a great event,” said Ryan Shirley, CEO of VONA Case Management.
“I am thankful for all of the wonderful people at Tunnel2Towers for organizing this wonderful event,” said Jonathan. “We must never forget the sacrifices our nation’s first responders and military make on a daily basis.”
The Tunnel to Towers event raises money and awareness for first responders and severely injured military veterans. The event also to pays homage to those who perished on 9/11. “We witnessed a firefighter in full gear run the 5K to honor those lost before him. A very powerful statement of sacrifice for our nation’s heroes,” said Jonathan.
We must never allow the pride, heroism, and resilience displayed by Americans in the aftermath to be forgotten. It’s imperative that we celebrate these heroes and honor their legacy forever. Click here to learn more about Tunnel 2 Towers events across the country.
The Siller Family started the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation to honor the memory of their brother, Stephen, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers.
