On Saturday, November 3, 2018, many of our VONA nurses and staff members located in South Alabama, participated in the inaugural DIPG Warrior Walk at the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park. The family-friendly event raised more than $20,000 for The Cure Starts Now and the proceeds will help fund vital research to fight DIPG. Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Gliomas (DIPG) is a highly aggressive cancer with very difficult to treat brain tumors found at the base of the brain. Our VONA team was proud to participate in honor of Aubreigh Nicholas, a special friend to our VONA family who recently lost her battle with DIPG. We are proud of our nurses and staff who chose to support all of the DIPG Warriors!
How You Can Get Involved
The Mobile, Alabama Chapter of The Cure Starts Now was formed in the honor of Aiden Bonner who passed away from DIPG in January of 2015. The Cure Starts Now represents a revolutionary new strategy in cancer research; one that fights cancer not according to numbers but instead based on knowledge and research. The Cure Starts Now’s mission is one that knows no boundaries and stops at no borders. It is an international effort of families, friends, businesses and even strangers, united in the desire to cure cancer, one child at a time. And it all started with one child, but today the inspiration is carried with us all. Click to make a donation to The Cure Starts Now.
